After a winter break, Lucidflow returns with the intent to thaw, providing a dance floor heater through and through as their first release of 2020. What a way to kick off, with label co-owner Nadja Lind teaming up with a figure of electronic music legacy - Jam El Mar. You will no doubt recognise his name in the context of his late production partner Mark Spoon, who created seminal classics such as 'The Age Of Love' and 'Stella'. Nowadays, Jam El Mar can be found within the catalogue of the likes of Adam Beyer's Truesoul, and it is the techno sensibility with a knack for a drifting melody that he brings to the partnership on 'Selfie - Youie'.
It is Nadja that takes the spotlight on 'Selfie' - where her knack for a deep subtle groove comes to the fore. You can hear the melting trance strains of Jam weaving through the track, but the low end rumble and knack for a groove laden ride and suspenseful breakdown is right out of the Lucidflow maestro's playbook.
With a crack of the knuckles, Jam takes over on 'Youie' and there is precisely zero percent messing around. This is a track that is all about the mighty kick with thunderclaps and lightning flashes perforating for maximum main room devastation. Whether it is a 303 lick or raw synth searing through, this is a track that sets out to be, and absolutely achieves, commanding.
'Selfie - Youie' will be available on the usual digital stockists on 9th March 2020 on beatport, 23rd March all shops
