For release #158, Lucidflow bring in MnchengladbachCologne DJ and producer Dennis Allen with 'Rarely Wise'. You get the feeling that Dennis enjoys stripping away the unnecessary trappings of celebrity when it comes to music, simply describing himself as a "spiritual being having a human experience, electronic sound creator, groove constructor, music lover".In terms of how this translates to 'Rarely Wise', it has an intimate and personal feel. It is the sort of music that sits at the middle of a Venn diagram depicting dub, house and progressive. The tempo is easy enough for the summer months, where it licks at the drained limbs of sun blasted limbs. Deep enough to lure you inside for the duration, from first to last beat. Plus has a hypnotic edge that angles towards the beckoning dance floor of dusk into night session.The title track is dark and driving, the metronome poised around that of the human heartbeat which locks 'Rarely Wise' in almost as if it were part of your circadian rhythm. Following this, 'A61V3' opts for tension as its motif, the syncopated rhythm stepping on tiptoes. Perhaps saving the best for last, 'The Next Morning' features self-sourced field samples from a forest, twilight melodies and an otherworldly dreaminess that beguiles.The 'Rarely Wise' EP releases on 13th August 2018 (4 weeks Beatport excl.) and can be found at the usual digital outlets.lucidflow-records.com
